Flexion EPS Core Technology

Introducing our exclusive Flexion EPS Core Technology, now available on all of our shortboard models! Designed with a mixture of innovative quality materials and a focus on high-performance surfing, our line of epoxy core boards is unmatched in both construction technology and rider dynamic. Flexion Technology offers the ultimate in speed, drive, and flex response.

The key to the outstanding performance of the Flexion Technology boards lies within the combination of materials used during construction.  For the core of our boards, we use an EPS – Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) – foam core that utilizes a high-density foam stringer. For the bottom lamination and wrapping around the rails, we use a unique composite diamond ply material that has very high strength properties and a high impact resistance. This setup helps minimize torsional twist and gives a balanced flex from nose to tail with still remaining strong.  The deck lamination consists of a bi-axial cloth, carbon fiber tail patches, and center carbon tape further adding to the overall strength of the board.

Our structural design with Flexion Technology allows the board to have a balanced, light, and strong construction without giving up crucial flex which gives a surfboard a responsive and lively feel in the water.

Black Atlantic Surfboards is currently the only manufacturer in full production with this unique material and construction technique.

Meeting the demands of strength, memory flex, and being light weight, Flexion EPS Core Technology™️ reaches new levels in both surfboard performance and production.  All Black Atlantic surfboards are designed and manufactured in the USA. 

CONSTRUCTION OVERVIEW

Flexion EPS Core Technology™️ is shaped out of EPS foam using a high density foam stringer, and built from specialized fabrics and composites. The technology delivers a strong board with high weight to strength capabilities, balanced flex pattern, and lively feel resulting in high end performance demanded from today’s surfboard.

We add a high-density foam stringer to our blank retaining a nose-to-tail flex familiar to that of a standard PU core board which helps eliminate the EPS chatter feeling that non-stringered blanks are notorious for.

The lamination schedule consists of a combination of woven and bi-axial cloth along with composite materials.  This is all combined with high quality epoxy resin that has a superior life span in both flexural properties and high UV resistance.

All boards built with Flexion Technology will come standard with our signature black-painted stringer and rail bands. Alternative colorway options are available and can be requested on custom orders.
